Ana Cristina Reguera wins the 2022 edition of the internal competition “Describe your thesis in 4 minutes”

Reguera will represent UIC Barcelona in the inter-university final organised by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi) on 22 June.

The final stage of the internal competition “Describe your thesis in 4 minutes” was held in the Saló de Graus room on Friday 29 April. The five doctoral students from Health Sciences and from Communication, Education and Humanities who competed were tasked with presenting their thesis topic, key findings and significance in a maximum of four minutes. They had to make their presentation entertaining for a non-specialist audience.

Carmen Dropez, secretary of the University Advisory Board (CAU) of UIC Barcelona, Mayra García, director of  Communication at UIC Barcelona and Dr María Cerrato, lecturer at the Faculty of Education Sciences were the three members of the jury who had to allocate the twelve points divided into two themes: understanding and content and commitment and communication.

The jury chose Ana Cristina Reguera as the winner, with the presentation of her thesis entitled “Efecto Mariposa: del endosoma a la obesidad” (The Butterfly Effect: from the endosome to obesity). The doctoral student will now enter the second phase of the competition and will represent UIC Barcelona at the public competition organised by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi) among all the universities in Catalonia.

Second prize went to doctoral student Anabel Casanovas who presented her thesis entitled “Programa de prehabilitación basado en educación sanitaria y entrenamiento en marcha nórdica en pacientes en tratamiento neoadyuvante y pendientes de cirugía de mama” (Prehabilitation programme based on health education and Nordic walking training in patients undergoing neoadjuvant treatment and pending breast surgery).

Finally, the public prize went to Virgínia García, who presented her thesis entitled “La competencia lectora en la etapa de la educación primaria. Una responsabilidad compartida” (Reading competence in primary education. A shared responsibility).
