Faculty of Communication Sciences graduate Mario Jimenez publishes a historical novel

The prologue of ‘Legio’ was written by Alfonso Méndiz, dean of the Faculty

UIC Barcelona School of Communication Sciences student Mario Jiménez has just published Legio, a historical novel set in ancient Rome that gives an account of the adventures of Mario Virgilio, a character loosely based on the author himself, whose second surname is Virgili. In fact, this book is based on the research project he completed during his Baccalaureate studies to investigate the etymological origin of his maternal surname.

“I found that the first Vergilius who landed in Roman Hispania did so in Roda de Barà (Tarragona), so I made my surname become the starting point for the story,” explains the former student of our Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising and Public Relations, who in fact spent the first years of his life in Tarragona. The Dean of the Faculty, Alfonso Méndiz, also took part in the publication by writing one of the prologues.

Beyond writing, Jimenez is also an entrepreneur. He founded PromoLoop, a platform that allows catering businesses to channel promotions to their customers with the aim of encouraging regular consumption. It is a digital loyalty card that aims to empower and help the catering sector in the current context, affected by the restrictions caused by the health crisis
