UIC Barcelona stands out in the “Governance” category of the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability

Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) has been ranked, once again, in the international ranking QS World University Rankings: Sustainability

This ranking is specifically designed to evaluate universities based on, “Social impact”, “Environmental Impact” and “Governance”. Among the different categories that make up this ranking, UIC Barcelona excels in the category of “Governance”, in which it has improved its position compared to the previous edition: nationally, it is among the 10 best universities and globally among the TOP 250 (occupying the position =226 out of 1,743 universities). In the 2025 edition, UIC Barcelona is ranked =843rd out of 1.743 universities worldwide and 34th out of 44 universities nationwide

The methodology used by QS WUR: Sustainability analyses the university in three categories: ‘Environmental Impact’, which measures the sustainability of the university through indicators of environmental education, environmental research and environmental sustainability; ‘Social Impact’, which measures the impact of the university's commitment to sustainability through indicators of equality, education, employability and partnerships with industry and the improvement of health and wellbeing; and finally ‘Governance’, which assesses whether the university has strong governance through transparency in decision-making, ethical organisational culture, student representation on university bodies and financial transparency, amongst others.

In terms of overall score performance on a scale of 1 to 100 among the high-performance indicators that make up the different categories, UIC Barcelona excels worldwide in the ‘Equality’ indicators, with 82.6 points, followed by the ‘Impact of Education’ indicator, with 73.1 points, and ‘Health and Wellbeing’, with 63.4 points. All of them are in the “Social Impact” category. 87.6 points were achieved in the “Governance” category.

Once again, UIC Barcelona is recognised internationally for its contribution to sustainable development through research, teaching and strong governance.

The objective of the UIC Barcelona Statistical Data and Rankings Office is to measure the performance of the different aspects of the University through data and evidence, allowing it to be visible both nationally and internationally through the social impact produced by rankings and listings.
