UIC Barcelona makes its debut in the QS World University Rankings 2027
The University was placed directly into the 901-950 range worldwide, further consolidating its international profile and global standing
Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) has been included for the first time in the 2027 edition of the prestigious QS World University Rankings, one of the leading international university rankings produced by QS Quacquarelli Symonds. The University was placed directly into the 901-950 range worldwide, further consolidating its international profile and global standing.
In this edition, QS assessed over 8,800 institutions from 106 countries, with only 1,504 universities making it into the list. Nationally, the ranking features 48 Spanish universities, among them UIC Barcelona, ranked 25-27 in Spain.
UIC Barcelona’s inclusion also coincides with a particularly positive edition for the Spanish university system, with ten new Spanish universities joining the list. Of these, UIC Barcelona is the highest ranked among the new additions.
The results place particular emphasis on several key indicators in which UIC Barcelona performed particularly well:
- Faculty Student Ratio: the University achieved a score of 97.4, ranking 1st in Spain and among the top universities worldwide (56th) for this indicator. This reflects the institution’s personalised teaching model and its commitment to accessible, high-quality education.
- International Student Diversity: UIC Barcelona also holds a place of prominence in the international student indicator, in which it placed 4th nationally and 238th worldwide, underscoring its appeal to international students.
- International Faculty Ratio: the University ranks among the top ten Spanish universities in terms of proportion of international teaching staff, strengthening its global and multicultural profile.
The ranking also identifies areas for growth, linked to research, international academic reputation and global research collaboration networks, strategic areas in which the University continues to work to strengthen its international standing.
These results reflect the impact of UIC Barcelona’s institutional strategy, focused on academic excellence, internationalisation, research and education oriented towards employability and social engagement.
The Statistical Data and Rankings Office at UIC Barcelona works to analyse the institution’s performance through data and evidence, with the aim of strengthening the University’s visibility, position and national and international profile.
