UIC Barcelona has joined the Catalan Association for Science Communication (ACCC) as a new partner institution; an association which brings together professionals, institutions and organisations committed to the rigorous communication of scientific knowledge.

The Barcelona campus hosted Research Nexus UIC Barcelona on 11 June, an event promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer to showcase the research carried out at the University and to encourage the exchange of ideas, experiences and collaboration opportunities within the research community.

The webinar, organised by the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences as part of the research project “Generative AI in Industry: Model and Scale for Improving Quality and Productivity”, brought together experts from academia and industry to analyse the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence in organisations

The event, organised by the Doctoral School in cooperation with VRIT, brought together 120 doctoral candidates in a space devoted to scientific outreach, reflection and networking, with record participation in the poster and “Present Your Thesis in 4 Minutes” contests

The fourth and final session of the Knowledge Transfer Conference series, organised by the UIC Barcelona Knowledge Transfer and Valorisation Centre, focused on the industrial doctorate model as a tool for collaboration between academia and the business sector.

The third of the four Knowledge Transfer Sessions held on the Sant Cugat Campus was centred around patents and the link between scientific publication and the protection of innovation.

Can artificial intelligence redefine how we design architecture? How might digital visualisation be integrated as a core design tool? Could 3D printing evolve into a new construction system? These were among the key questions explored during the second session of the Foros 2026 lecture series at the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, which focused on the opportunities digitalisation is creating for contemporary architectural practice.

Researchers from the WeCare Chair at UIC Barcelona are leading the second phase of the European RAPHAEL project in Spain, an initiative that aims to improve palliative care for patients with advanced heart failure. During this phase, specialists will recruit patients from the nine participating countries and monitor them using an app designed to improve their quality of life.

Two projects led by researchers from the University’s Department of Psychology and two projects by students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences have been selected to take part in Cecot’s Healthcare pre-acceleration programme, an initiative which supports entrepreneurship in the health and care sector with a view to fostering startups and innovative projects.

This April, the lecture series “Career Paths in Contemporary Architecture” will bring together architects from renowned studios, who will be on hand to share their professional experience with students.
