- This is a University Master's Degree (formerly CAP) that provides entry to the regulated professions of secondary school teacher, upper-secondary school teacher, vocational training teacher and language teacher as stated in the rules of professional practice, both in schools dependent on public administrations, as well as in schools that are semi-private or private.
- Format: video synchronous conferencing session. Compatible with working students, whose working day would prevent them from being able to attend the full course face to face. This modality encourages students to interact “live” with the teaching staff and other students through video conferencing.

This master’s degree, which is primarily vocational in nature, aims to provide students with the human, pedagogical and didactic resources necessary to teach in compulsory secondary education (ESO) and post-compulsory education (Baccalaureate), intermediate and advanced vocational training programmes, and language teaching.

- To produce professionals who are competent in the field of educational psychology and can intervene in or research educational and professional guidance, and focus on diversity and guidance in teaching and learning processes as well as the difficulties they involve.
- To identify the educational needs which allow the educational and psychological process of students to be assessed so as to ensure their social inclusion.
- To propose significant adaptations in various formal and informal learning contexts.
- To provide educational strategies to help pupils with SEN (learning difficulties, general developmental disorders).
- To facilitate the creation of specific educational psychology intervention programmes (in the school, social and professional environments).
- To provide elements for the analysis and interpretation of policies, practices and educational psychology contexts in order to act in the best manner possible and be capable of improving the learning and teaching processes that develop.
- To facilitate the correct tools for strategies for work and action which improve the planning and management of educational psychology services: guidance, advice and assessment?

Admission process
In Catalonia, the process of pre-registration and placement in the University Master's Degree in Teacher Training is centralised through the Catalan Government’s Portal d'accés a la universitat. All persons interested in taking this licensure master’s degree for teachers must complete the process, and it is the Catalan Government who assigns the place according to the bachelor’s or undergraduate degree cut-off mark. The specialisation to be studied will be determined by the university studies already completed by the candidate.
UIC Barcelona will only intervene at the time of registration for those assigned a place by the Catalan Government. Enrolment will take place once the candidate has received notification of their place allocation from the Government of Catalonia.. After this period, the place will be lost and the government will reallocate vacant places to other candidates. The date of registration will depend on the date on which the Catalan Government assigns the place to the candidate (between September and October).

At UIC Barcelona we offer a specialisation in Catalan and Spanish Language and Literature, a specialisation in English and a specialisation in Biology-Geology.

The University Access Office in the Department of Education manages pre-enrolment and access to the University Master’s Degree in Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Teacher Training, Professional Training, and Language Teaching from its headquarters (OAU). This procedure is carried out through established methods, guaranteeing the principles of advertising, equality, merit and capacity. Pre-registration must be completed on the dates stated on the university access portal.
- Do I have to accredit a minimum level of Catalan or English to take this specialisation?
Regarding the accreditation of languages, it should be taken into account that a degree in teaching that is concordant with the teaching specialisation associated with the Master’s specialisation must also be taken into account. - How and where do I apply for a place at UIC Barcelona?
First, the university pre-registration process as set out by the Department of Education must be followed. In this process students can choose up to six study preferences. Once the allocation of places has been made, it will be up to the university centre to undertake the enrolment.

The Faculty of Education Sciences at UIC Barcelona.
- How many places does UIC Barcelona offer for each of the specialisations?
There are 60 places in our specialisation in Spanish and Catalan Language and Literature, 30 places for the English language specialisation and 30 places for the specialisation in Biology-Geology.
- Is it a university master’s degree and recognised throughout Spain?
Yes.
- What is the mode of this master’s degree?
This master’s degree is taught via synchronous conferencing and includes on-site work placements in schools (secondary school timetable).
- Am I obliged / to attend a minimum of synchronous classes or can I do everything via streaming?
It is convenient, necessary and advisable to attend all synchronous classes. There will no longer be the option to stream classes after the fact.
- What schedule does the master’s degree have?
The scheduled sessions are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5.00 to 9.00 p.m.
- How long does the programme last for?
Classes from October to May*:
- 1st semester: from 16 October to 7 de February.
- 2nd semester: from 13 February to 30 June.
Work placements:190 hours from November to April.
- Can it be taken “part-time”, i.e., distributing credits so that instead of within a year can it be done in two?
Yes, it is possible. The master’s degree can be taken in two consecutive years, the subjects to be taken each year will be detailed on the calendar.
- What is the precise number of hours this programme covers?
SIt will comprise a total of 1,500 hours (60 ECTS).

Each case will be studied before enrolment. Documentation to be submitted for the application review:

Validations are worth 25% of the price of each credit.

About the work placements
- Does this master’s degree include work placements? Are they compulsory?
Yes, this master’s degree includes compulsory work placements.
- What is the timetable of the work placements?
The 190 hours are held within school hours and depend on the availability of the mentor assigned to the education centre. In most schools, the hours are in the morning.- Can I choose the dates and times of the work placements according to my availability?
The work placements must be completed within the time and dates indicated by the education centre.
We can try to come to an agreement with the education centre about adapting dates and times, but we cannot guarantee their acceptance.- Where are the work placements done?
Work placements are done in training centres approved by the Department of Education.

It should be noted that the centres must offer placements in your specialisation.- Can I choose where to do the placement?
You will not be able to choose. This is a competitive process among all the universities within the training centres selected by the Department of Education. UIC Barcelona will assign the centre (depending on the availability of each centre). The process of assigning places will begin within 10 days of enrolment.
- Can I undertake a work placement outside Catalonia?
No.
- Are the work placements officially recognised?

- Can I do the work experience at the same place I work?
Yes, given that the centre must assign a mentor in the specialisation studied and the work placement hours must be completed outside the working hours of the student.
