Certificate of Competence for English Medium Instruction (CLUC-EMI)
What is the CLUC-EMI Exam?
This exam consists of two tests, a written test and an oral test. Its main objective is to assess whether the candidate has the language competence necessary to teach in English. In some cases, the language skills assessed within the exam correspond to a B2 level under the CEFR and in others to a C1 level under the CEFR.
Who it is intended for?
This exam is intended for academic staff (PDI) interested in certifying the level of language competence required to teach in English at a university level.
When will it take place?
Writing test (90 minutes): 20 January, from 1 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. – Campus Sant Cugat
Speaking test (30 minutes; individual): from 16 to 27 January, at times to be agreed upon, on both the Barcelona and Sant Cugat campuses.
There is a maximum limit of 35 places (places will be assigned by order of payment. This sitting is subject to a minimum of 10 participants).

How can I prepare for the exam?
The CLUC-EMI exam is linked to a 6-hour on-site preparation course that is scheduled to take place 11,16 and 18 January, from 3 to 5 p.m. To registrer, please complete this enrolment form. This course is not compulsory for those interested in taking the exam. The enrolment period for the course is until 9 January 2022.
