UIC Barcelona recognised as a sustainable university by the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings

UIC Barcelona has been ranked among the 2,318 universities included in the general classification of the ranking based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Out of the 2,526 that participated, the University obtained a position of 301-400 globally and 12-14 nationally out of 52 universities

The THE Impact Rankings aim to measure the commitment of universities to address the most urgent challenges facing the planet, such as sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth, and partnerships between organisations.

Out of the 17 goals that make up this ranking, UIC Barcelona has prioritised four: SDG 3, Good Health and Well-beingSDG 5, Gender EqualitySDG 10, Reduced Inequalities; and SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals.

The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya is among the top 100 universities worldwide for SDG 3, Good Health and Well-being, ranking 94th out of 1,788 universities, and 2nd out of 39 universities nationally. This result underscores UIC Barcelona's commitment to promoting well-being and mental health through academic programmes and research projects.

In SDG 5, Gender Equality, UIC Barcelona is also among the top 100 universities globally, ranking 66-67 out of 1,559 universities, and 2nd nationally out of 45 universities. The university reinforces its commitment to gender equality through rigorous inclusive policies and practices, and programmes that support the development of women, aiming to enhance their visibility, promote non-sexist language, and drive research. These initiatives focus on fostering an equitable academic environment and eliminating inequalities.

For SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities, UIC Barcelona ranks 301-400 globally out of 1,261 universities, and 13-19 out of 34 universities nationally. The university actively works to reduce inequalities within and among countries, reflected in its efforts to provide accessible and quality education, as well as its involvement in international cooperation projects aimed at improving living conditions in vulnerable communities.

In SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, UIC Barcelona ranks 301-400 out of 2,389 universities globally, and 5-6 out of 52 universities nationally. The university recognises the importance of strategic partnerships for sustainable development. Therefore, it collaborates with various institutions, organisations, and international networks to share knowledge, resources, and experiences that enhance the impact of its actions.

Once again, UIC Barcelona has been recognised globally, this time for its comprehensive excellence in contributing to global sustainable development, achieved through the UIC Barcelona Cooperation and Sustainable Development Office, adding another achievement to its rankings.

The UIC Barcelona Statistical Data and Rankings Office  aims to measure the performance of the various dimensions that make up the university through data and evidence, allowing it to be visible both nationally and internationally through the social impact produced by rankings and listings.
