Live objects, social games

The workshop entitled "Live objects, social games" involves the idea of architecture as a game, with architecture understood as an artefact, as a set of facts, and as a series of links.

Games as a live object have the capacity to catalyse linkages within a space. The idea of the live game as an object creates a field in which movements are generated, produced based on the rules of the game itself.

The concept of games as a social landscape in time creates links via the use of various strategies. The pleasure of the game builds relationships between different actors, people and objects, space and time.

In order to catalyse the understanding of games as a live object the film Der Lauf der Dinge (1987) by Swiss artists Fischli and Weisswas was projected. Also the film Calder's Circus (1961) by American artist Alexander Calder served as a starting point to develop the idea of games as a social landscape.
