Conference and exhibition on Zofia Kossak: Writer, Auschwitz prisoner, Righteous Among the Nations, exiled

Faculty of Humanities Saló de Graus, Barcelona Campus

Higinio J. Paterna, Polish translator and Zofia Kossak expert, will give a lecture on this internationally renowned Polish writer at the Barcelona campus.

Kossak was a prisoner of Auschwitz and founder of Żegota, the only organisation in Nazi-occupied Europe dedicated exclusively to saving Jews, inspired by her strong Christian convictions.

In addition to the conference, there will be a book presentation of Angels in the Dust by Zofia Kossak and translated by Paterna. You will also be able to visit the travelling exhibition about the writer, highlighting the role of Polish women in the resistance to totalitarianism during the Holocaust.

The event is organised by the Faculty of Humanities with the support of the Ulma Family Museum of Poles Saving Jews in World War II, as part of the University’s Cultural April 2025.
