What?

A semester-long course consisting of 45 on-site hours and 30 hours of online work (5.5 ECTS) that will help provide you the necessary tools to resolve basic communicative situations in Catalan from both everyday life and academic life at the University. This course includes a final A2-level (CEFR) CLUC exam, which could earn you a certificate recognised by the Government of Catalonia.

All members of the university community (students, PAS and PDI) and non-university members

How?

A semester-long blended-learning course (45 on-site hours + 30 online hours)

Where and when?

The tutorials will take place on the Barcelona Campus or on the Sant Cugat Campus, depending on registration.

The dates and times for the on-site tutorials may vary depending on the students' availability.

  • Tutorials for the 1st-semester course (approximate timetable): Thursday, 13.00–14.00; 16 October to 18 December.
  • Tutorials for the 2nd-semester course:
    • Sant Cugat Campus, 18 February to 13 May, Wednesday, 15-16
    • Barcelona Campus,  20 February to 15 May , Friday between 10 and 14. (The schedule will be confirmed as soon as the groups will be closed)

Price

  • UIC Barcelona PDI and PAS: €100
  • UIC Barcelona students: €150
  • Non-university members: €250

Certification

A basic A2-level Catalan certificate recognised by the Government of Catalonia. To earn a certificate, you must attend at least 90% of the on-site sessions, successfully complete the online and class-based activities and pass the CLUC exam.

Credit recognition

This course has a workload of 5.5 ECTS credits. If you are a UIC Barcelona undergraduate student, you can request recognition of 3 ECTS credits for taking the course. If you are an Erasmus student, you can include this course in your learning agreement. For mobility students, the number of credits recognised for this course will depend on your home university. 

Level test

To take this course, you must have knowledge equivalent to level A1 of the CEFR. To make sure you have the level required to register for the A2-level course, we ask that you complete the following level test:
