What?

An online course with the Parla.cat platform (4 ECTS) that will allow you to build on your basic knowledge of Catalan and improve your speaking and writing skills in this language.

Who?

All members of the university community (students, PAS and PDI)

How?

An online semester-long course consisting of 75 hours of autonomous study on the Parla.cat platform and 10 on-site tutorials. The course may be completed over one semester or a full academic year.

Where and when?

The tutorials will take place on the Barcelona Campus or on the Sant Cugat Campus, depending on registration.

The dates and times for the on-site tutorials may vary depending on the students' availability.

  • Tutorials for the 1st-semester course (approximate timetable):

Barcelona Campus, 19 October to 21 December, Monday, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Sant Cugat Campus, 15 October to 17 December, Thursday, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Tutorials for the 2nd-semester course  (approximate timetable):

Barcelona Campus, 15 February to 3 May , Monday, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Sant Cugat Campus, 18 February to 6 May, Wednesday, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Certification

Certificate of attendance and credit recognition. To earn a certificate, you must successfully complete at least 80% of the activities on the Parla.cat.

Credit recognition

This course has a workload of 4 ECTS credits. If you are a UIC Barcelona undergraduate student, you can request recognition of 2 ECTS credits for taking the course. If you are an Erasmus student, you can include this course in your learning agreement. For mobility students, the number of credits recognised for this course will depend on your home university.

Level test

To take this course, you must have knowledge equivalent to level A2 of the CEFR. To make sure you have the level required to register for the B1.1-level course, we ask that you complete the following level test:
