What?

An online course with the Parla.cat platform (4 ECTS) that explores the basic rules of Catalan grammar and will help you increase your lexical repertoire, express yourself fluidly and correctly while speaking and writing and have formal conversations on issues of both general and specific interest. This course includes a final B2-level (CEFR) CLUC exam, which could earn you a certificate recognised by the Government of Catalonia.

Who?

All members of the university community (students, PAS and PDI)

How?

An online semester-long course consisting of 75 hours of autonomous study on the Parla.cat platform and 10 on-site tutorials.

Where and when?

The tutorials will take place on the Barcelona Campus or on the Sant Cugat Campus, depending on registration.

The dates and times for the on-site tutorials may vary depending on the students' availability.

  • Tutorials for the 1st semester course (approximate timetable): 

Barcelona Campus, 13 October to 22 December, Tuesday, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Sant Cugat Campus, 15 October to 17 December, Thursday, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Tutorials for the 2nd semester course  (approximate timetable):

Barcelona Campus, 16 February to 27 April , Tuesday, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Sant Cugat Campus, 18 February to 29 April, Thursday, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Price

  • UIC Barcelona PDI and PAS: €150
  • UIC Barcelona students: €100

Certification

An intermediate B2-level Catalan certificate recognised by the Government of Catalonia. To earn a certificate, you must successfully complete at least 80% of the activities on the Parla.cat platform and pass the CLUC exam.

Credit recognition

This course has a workload of 4 ECTS credits. If you are a UIC Barcelona undergraduate student, you can request recognition of 2 ECTS credits for taking the course. If you are an Erasmus student, you can include this course in your learning agreement. For mobility students, the number of credits recognised for this course will depend on your home university. 

Level test

To take this course, you must have knowledge equivalent to level B2.1 of the CEFR. To make sure you have the level required to register for the B2.2-level course, we ask that you complete the following level test:
