Toni Mora analyses the use of public health apps at a new meeting of the European FLASH project at Vilnius University

Dr Toni Mora, director of the Institute for Research on Evaluation and Public Policy (IRAPP) at UIC Barcelona, recently took part in a new meeting of the European FLASH project held at Vilnius University (Lithuania). During the meeting, consortium members continued advancing the various research lines aimed at improving the efficiency and equity of European healthcare systems.

Within the project, Toni Mora leads Work Package 8, which focuses on digital health. Specifically, he analyses the factors influencing the use – or lack thereof – of digital applications and web portals for accessing healthcare services. The goal is to identify differences in patient behaviour and evaluate how these variations may be impacting the overall utilisation of these digital tools.

In Catalonia, the study mainly focuses on analysing the app La Meva Salut, while in other participating countries, equivalent platforms are being studied, such as the Italian programme mio Dottore. In addition to analysing usage patterns, Work Package 8 also examines the content of messages exchanged within these platforms to better understand users’ needs and preferences.

FLASH (Financing Long-term Ambitious Sustainable Healthcare) is a European project involving 16 partners from universities, research centres and healthcare organisations across several countries. The consortium tackles current challenges in the financing and management of health systems in Europe from a multidisciplinary perspective, especially in the context of increasing digitalisation and sustainability.
