Call for “Present your thesis in 4 minutes” Contest 

• Internal Phase Contest UIC Barcelona: 13 May at 17:30 in Aula Jardí, Barcelona Campus.
• FCRi Final Phase Contest: 11 June in the city of Vic.

The 9th edition of the “Present Your Thesis in 4 Minutes” competition is now underway. It is an interuniversity competition organised by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi) and the Department of Research and Universities of the Government of Catalonia, and is aimed at doctoral students from any discipline, challenging them to explain their research in a maximum of 4 minutes using simple language easily understood by a general audience.

The competition will consist of two phases. In the first round, each university organises its own internal qualifying competition to select the candidate who will represent the university. In the second round, the FCRi organises the public final competition among all universities in Catalonia.

Among the new features of the 9th edition, the final will take place on 11 June in the city of Vic.

Following the rules of the competition organised by the FCRi, the UIC Barcelona Doctoral School announces the internal competition: “Present Your Thesis in 4 Minutes”.
 

Prizes

The Doctoral School will award four prizes in the internal round:

• First: waiver of administrative fees for thesis deposit and defence registration + gift card
• Second: gift card
• Audience: institutional gift
• Thesis in Catalan Prize: institutional gift. *Only for theses presented in Catalan.
   

The FCRi will award four prizes in the final:

• First: €2,500 (jury)
• Second: €1,500 (jury)
• Third: €1,000 (jury)
• Audience: €1,000 (audience)
• Assumpció Català i Poch Special Mention for the promotion of the Catalan language: €1,000 (Catalan language reinforcement plan) *Only for theses presented in Catalan.
