The Comprehensive Centre for Advanced Simulation (CISA) at UIC Barcelona, covering 1,000 m², is a leading reference in the education and training of healthcare professionals. With over 28 years of experience in clinical simulation and 10 years as one of the pioneering centres in Spain, it promotes an innovative educational model grounded in academic excellence, cutting-edge technology and a strong humanistic ethos.
Located on the Sant Cugat Campus, CISA constitutes a fully integrated clinical learning ecosystem within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Its advanced clinical simulation facilities recreate operating theatres, intensive care units, outpatient clinics, hospital wards and emergency scenarios with the highest level of realism. These environments enable Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Psychology students to train in a safe, realistic and collaborative setting.
CISA forms part of an innovative teaching project based on UIC Barcelona’s distinctive affective–effective model. This approach prepares professionals to respond to the real challenges of the healthcare and care systems through a multidisciplinary perspective, with the humanisation of patient care as its central pillar.
As a university committed to knowledge transfer and societal wellbeing, UIC Barcelona provides organisations in the health and care sectors access to CISA’s facilities, equipment and a multidisciplinary team of technical staff, simulated patients and specialised instructors.
