Presentation

Body

This one-week summer course will introduce undergraduate students to cutting-edge experimental research in biomedical sciences, with a focus on neuroscience, neurometabolism, cancer, genetics of rare diseases and AI-bioinformatics in healthcare.

Through a combination of lectures, practical demonstrations, transversal workshops and career testimonials, participants will gain exposure to modern experimental approaches and interdisciplinary research strategies. The programme is designed to highlight the Master’s Degree in Experimental Research in Biomedical Sciences and the new Master’s Degree in AI and Bioinformatics for Healthcare, as well as the diverse research carried out in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.

Students will also engage in a team-based transversal project, integrating knowledge from the sessions and presenting their outcomes on the final day

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Understand key concepts and methods in experimental neuroscience, neurometabolism, and cancer research.
  • Gain exposure to genetics and their relevance across research areas.
  • Explore the applications of AI and bioinformatics in biomedical sciences, including a hands-on session.
  • Engage directly with career pathways in academia and industry through interactive testimonials.
  • Work collaboratively on a transversal mini project, applying concepts across disciplines.
